  • Cruz Albisu lets his fingers do the talking. His shop, is small, cluttered space where the Spanish immigrant makes high-quality leather boots and shoes by hand. Albisu worked for White's boots for years, until opening his own business on West Main, in Spokane, Wash., in a space that looks abandoned about half the time. But he's in there in his smock, surrounded by forms and leather, making custom boots for loggers, smokejumpers, cowboys and others.
