An Osprey bringing breakfast to his mate early Tuesday morning in Kendall Yards. The male will usually remove the head of the fish before bringing it to the nest so it doesn’t flop out or injure any babies.

Violet- green Swallows return from Mexico and Central America just in time for the first day of spring. Known as aerial insectivores, they give a show of acrobatic stunts swooping and seizing their insect delights out of thin air. They zip around at speeds of up to 28 mph. Early morning near Hauser Lake.

What appears to be synchronized swimming is an elaborate courtship dance by these two Common Goldeneyes. They throw their heads backward in a snap while uttering a shrill, two-noted call. Early morning in the Hauser area.
