Bat and "bat bugs" 7-21-22 Four Lakes, WA This appears to be a "big brown bat" that happened to find its way into our house. With the help of leather gloves and a fishnet, we gently caught him and put him up on our rock chimney to fly away. After I took this shot, I noticed the bugs on his wings, and research shows they are common "bat bug" related to bedbugs (not appealing).

The Columbian Ground Squirrel is an engaging animal full of entertaining antics. Their standard greeting consists of touching their noses and mouths together for about 1-5 seconds. This family was spotted near Hauser. They can be found in central Idaho and western parts of Montana, along with northern and eastern reaches of Washington up into the Rockies of Canada.

Earlier this morning all 3 robin chicks successfully left their nest. I was able to photograph 2 of them right before and after they took the plunge. The first one had already exited before I knew it as I happened to be out working in my yard when this happened.

3 baby robins squished in their nest like sardines in a can (it looks like one of the parents must have introduced red berries into their diet as I see some on the upper left corner of the nest).
