Colin Mulvany's Favorite Photos 2022

Looking at my gallery of the favorite images I made in 2022, I am struck by the variety of moments I captured. From sports, feature, spot news and portraits, these images are a reflection of our newspaper’s commitment to document our community’s ongoing story. As I enter my 34th year as a photojournalist for The Spokesman-Review, I will continue to showcase the people and events that show the wholeness and complexity of the place we live.

Dylan Krogh, 28, died of a fentanyl overdose in April 2021. His family waited months for the final toxicology report, and are now hoping to alert others to the danger of the drug. Daily, what shows up changes, and catches the eyes of those walking or cycling nearby. She gave up her lawn mower years ago and won’t go back.

After fans thought the Spokane Chiefs scored their first goal against Lethbridge (the puck never went into the net), 1000s of teddy bears and stuffed animal were thrown onto the ice during the annual TDS Fiber Teddy Bear Toss hockey game.
