F. Murray Abraham Would Make ‘The White Lotus’ All Over Again

NEW YORK – Not long ago, venerable actor F. Murray Abraham wanted to get lunch at a favorite restaurant in Greenwich Village. Unfortunately, the place was overrun by New York University students shooting a film. As the Oscar-winning star of “Amadeus,” “Angels in America” and dozens of other movies, plays and TV series stood on the outside looking in, one of the students turned to another and expressed his outrage: “Don’t you know who this is? This is the voice of Khonshu!”

‘Fleishman Is in Trouble’ spends too much time with the wrong people

You need not be divorced – or married, even – to recognize the sense of upheaval that can accompany the dissolution of a marriage. Most people marry with the intent for it to last, and then all of a sudden the unluckier sort find themselves signing papers legally extricating their lives from the people with whom they hoped they would be entwined for good. They might be depressed about it. Or maybe they sigh in relief. Hollywood would suggest the most interesting, authentic stories fall somewhere in between.

Christina Applegate Pours One Out for ‘Dead to Me’

When Christina Applegate looks back, she can recognize the signs. Filming a dance sequence during the first season of the Netflix wine-mom dramedy “Dead to Me,” she found herself off balance. Later, her tennis game began to falter. At the time, Applegate, an actress with an aversion to special pleading, didn’t make excuses. She had to work harder, she told herself. She had to try again.

‘House of the Dragon’ ended on the brink of war. What could Season 2 bring?

“The Black Queen,” Sunday’s Season 1 finale of HBO’s massive hit “House of the Dragon,” didn’t lack for ambition. The episode had an extended, midair dragon-on-dragon chase scene, the third(!) harrowing birth/death scene in only 10 episodes, the untimely death of a young character, and Seven Kingdoms on the brink of war preceded all season by character scheming, time jumps, and the prolonged leprosy spiral of King Viserys (the great Paddy Considine). He finally rotted off this mortal coil in Episode 8.

What to watch for when you’re watching ‘The Watcher’

In the fall of 2018, New York magazine published an engrossing account of the nightmare that unfolded after Derek and Maria Broaddus bought what they thought was their dream home in the leafy suburb of Westfield, N.J. After beginning renovations at 657 Boulevard, the couple began receiving creepy letters from an anonymous person who dubbed themselves “the Watcher.” The writer made references to “young blood” and showed they were familiar with the family’s three children, down to their names and birth order. The letters grew increasingly threatening, but the Broadduses found little recourse, even as they reported the letters to the local police department and hired a private investigator to look into the bizarre matter.
